Theo Wouters was born in the Netherlands during the last W.war fifth child (his mother's favoured) in a household of six. Destined to take over his mothers drugstore, he rebelled and studied art instead, commercial art and fashion in Maastricht and hat making in Amsterdam.

He opened his own studio in Maastricht, Couture and hats, and after seven years, in 1969 he moved to Montreal, Canada, designing couture and hats for private costumers.

Théo and his partner Roger Thibault met in 1972 December 22 in a bar on McKay str., the ROSE ROUGE. Roger claims it was on the 23, but Théo insists it was before midnight...

They married on July 18, 2002, and were the first same-sex couple in Quebec to be married under the province's new Civil Union Act.
