Born in Maplewood, New Jersey, to Italian parents - who tried to steer their son in the direction of a "practical" career like medicine or teaching - Robert started designing jewelry as a teenager.

After graduating from New York's Fashion Institute of Technology, Robert turned his hobby into a lucrative career, landing his jewelry in some of the most prestigious retailers in the world. Robert went on to secure a spot as the style consultant for Gay Entertainment Television.
