Kara is the author of the acclaimed 1998 book on the rise of America Online, aol.com: How Steve Case Beat Bill Gates, Nailed the Netheads, and Made Millions in the War for the Web.
In 1999, she was named the "Internet economy's most influential journalist" by The Industry Standard. Now reporting on Silicon Valley for The Wall Street Journal, Kara lives in San Francisco.
