Alon was an activist in the GLBT community. He began as the treasurer for the Aguda for GLBT persons in Israel. He was also chosen to the that organization's chairman of the board. During his tenure, the Aguda's youth wing was created and grown with branches throughout Israel. He stood against homophobia and police brutality against Gays and Russians in the country.
