Don was born in Denver, Colorado and was brought up in Waco, Texas, in a trailer park on a dirt road as an Air Force brat. He studied at Rice University and Boston University.
Don is a writer, therapist, and pleasure activist in New York City. He has published three books about theater and writes articles and reviews about theater for the New York Times, American Theater, the Advocate, and other publications.
Don lives in Manhattan and writes for Rolling Stone, Village Voice and Esquire. His essays have been included in several anthologies such as "Male Lust" and "The Politics of Manhood", "Best Gay Erotica 2000", and "The Young and the Hung".
