Born as Daniel John Pintauro in Milltown, New Yersey. Danny is an Eagle Scout. Daniel first appeared on the TV soap opera As the World Turns and in the movie Cujo. He first came to prominence on the television series Who's the Boss?.
After the conclusion of that series, he was less frequently cast. In 1994, he took time off from professional acting and attended Middlesex County College in Edison, New Jersey, and later Stanford University to study English and theater. In 1998, he majored in drama at Stanford University. He graduated in 2001.
Pintauro played Jonathan Bower, son of Angela Bower, in the series Who's the Boss from 1984 to 1992.
He came out as gay in July 1997 in an interview with National Enquirer tabloid. The tabloid contacted him in 1997 to inform him that they intended to out him as being gay. He granted an interview to the weekly, which was published in July 1997. The first person he came out to was his Who's the Boss? co-star Judith Light, who had played his mother.
Pintauro has since returned to the stage in more mature roles including that of the title character in the stage version of The Velocity of Gary.
