Former University of Toronto student activist, he organized the Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals of U of T after his first year studying at Trinity College. He was Co-founder, Group Chair and Chief Scout of the 129th Toronto Scouting Troup, North America's first LGBTQ Scouting group.
Bonte has been named one of Toronto's top activists by Now magazine in 1999. He currently co-chairs the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Youth line and is one of the organizers of the National executive Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual New Democratic Youth of Canada.
