The first openly gay man in the United States to become president of Robla School Board, California, 1988. Gary Miller was one of just a few out front gay school board members in the nation. Though he received anti gay campaigns run against him, in the last election he came in first.
He left the board after almost 20 years.
He is a Christian Quaker and a liberal Democrat. He had a relationship with his first partner for 26 years and currently is in a relationship for 5. He is an activist in gay rights, Democratic Party, union. Served on a local school board for l8 years.
