Inge Meysel

Born in Berlin, she was one of the most popular German TV actresses. She began her career aged 20, but was banned from the stage during the Nazi era because her father was Jewish.
She played Käthe Scholz in Die Unverbesserlichen. In her days on television after World War II, she was called "Mother of the Nation".
She appeared in many popular television shows after the war and over the last 40 years had played 100 roles on stage and television.
Inge died of heart failure at her home in Bullenhausen, near Hamburg.
