Buck contacted the Gay-Lesbian-Liaison-Unit for some help with a young gay friend in need. Impressed by the nature and quality of the advice and assistance provided by the unit, he contacted the Gay-Lesbian-Liaison-Unit about becoming an Auxiliary member of the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department.
He and his partner were searching for ways to become more involved in the community, so the timing was right. Although he officially serves as the Gay-Lesbian-Liaison-Unit Database and Technology Coordinator, he pretty much works wherever he's assigned.
Buck has worked for years with a number of human rights organizations and groups that advocate for issues of concern to the sexual minority community. He has a background in the visual and performing arts and in book publishing. Currently he is an information architect and part-time sculptor. He and his husband Mike Kessler live in the Adams-Morgan section of Washington.
