At age 15, Christian wrote a play performed at the theater in the provincial town of Ålborg. He attempted, without success, a career in the theatre, then he bacame a journalist. To be interwieved by him became a mark of social distinction.

Christian wrote explicitly about male homosexuality. Two autobiographies by Houmark published in 1950 focus on the tragic destiny of the male homosexual.
