Paul Horne was born and raised in the Bay Area.

In 1996 he fell in love with Sam. they started a national magazine together called HERO, which we published for 4 years and enjoyed some success in gay media.

"Our readers have been begging us to go monthly since we launched Hero," said Horne in a press release. "We're happy that it's become a reality."

Hero managed to double its circulation in the first three quarters of 2000, and he expected their circulation to pass 100,000 in less than six months.

But September 11, 2001, killed their funding and they lost the magazine and soon after also their relationship but they remained best friends.

After "Hero" closed, Paul took a job at Pallotta Teamworks, with his friend Dan Pallotta, who created the highly successful AIDS Rides. He lives in San Francisco, California.
