Activist, editor, publisher, writer, bibliographer (she began collecting lesbian literature in 1946 at the age of 13), she is known also as "Gene Damon". Co-founder of the oldest existing lesbian feminist publishing house Naiad Press (1973). She is living with her lover Donna McBride since 1972.
