Valley Forge, Pennsylvania: the first known case of a soldier who, being discovered in bed with a private in February 1778, was convicted on sodomy charges. Lt. Gotthold Frederick Enslin was court-martialed in March 11, and then was expelled, in March 14, from the Continental Army, by order of Gen. Washington.
