Paul Craig

Born in Bigger, Scotland, He moved to Edinburgh at the age of 16 where he worked in the theatre. He became involved with Pride Scotland and was credited with bringing in the big names such as Gabrielle and Jimmy Somerville.
In 1997 he moved to London, but went back to Scotland each year to stage-manage Pride Scotland. He was stage manager of the London Gay Pride festival on Clapham Common in 1997 and also worked on the Pride Arts Festival. He was employed by Kelvin Sollis on setting up the new London Mardi Gras.
In January 2000 police were alerted by Mardi Gras staff who were concerned that Paul Craig had not turned up for work. The police found him dead in bed in his flat in Hackney, London, and it was thought that he may have died of "Sydney flu" which had recently killed about 500 people in Britain. He was 28.
