Víctor Català
(1869 - 1966) - Spain
Political activist and writer
Pseudonym of Caterina Albert y Paradis, who was born into a family of rural Catalan gentry. She spent most of her life in the Mediterranean coastal town L'Escala on the Costa Brava, where the house in which she lived and which she gave to her female companion is still kept as a museum.
Her early works were mostly poetry and drama. Català also painted and her work can be seen in her old house in L'Escala. Writing under a male pseudonym, Català was attacked when her true identity became known. Her lesbian identity, evident in the museum, has been suppressed in the public acknowledgment of her work.

- Quatre monòlegs (1901)
- Solitud (1905)
- Caires vius (Living Aspects, 1907)
