Maggie Cassella is the youngest in an Italian family of six with three older brothers.
Maggie is a lawyer turned comic, a US native turned Canadian, a commentator turned TV diva. Maggie, born in a small town of Connecticut is now host of her own show, Because I Said So, airing nationally on "Star!", Canada's Entertainment Information Station.
Maggie also writes, produces and performs comedy live. Her film and television credits includes, a one-hour special titled In The Pink, a film version of her annual comedy festival We're Funny That Way (Canada's first international gay and lesbian comedy festival in 1997), an appearance in Camryn Manheim's ABC movie of the week Kiss My Act, a run in the Toronto production of the Vagina Monologues with actress Margot Kidder, and most recently, a short film with Academy Award nominated actor Tom Wilkinson.
Her standup performances include appearances at the Montreal Comedy Festival Just For Laughs, Dancers for Life, summer runs in Provincetown, and numerous television shows including The Roseanne Show.
Maggie wrote a book and two screenplays with Lea DeLaria, and has written for various publications and television networks. She had a hand in radio since 1996 when she started doing daily bits for two US stations based in New Jersey and has been heard in Canada on CBC, and eventually landed "The Maggie Cassella Show" drive home show, which she hosted from April to August of 2007.
Maggie is currently working on a new weekly half-hour show for OUT TV, tentatively titled On Line with Maggie Cassella and a book called "Because I Said So: I Just Want to Say This About That" or maybe the other way around " I Just Want to Say This About That: Because I Said So" Who knows? That's why they call it a working title that much we do know.
