Jim Caruso was the founding member of the nationally acclaimed, award-winning jazz vocal and comedy trio, Wiseguys. From the Algonquin Hotel's famed Oak Room to Carnegie Hall, Jim and his partners shared the stage with Joan Rivers, Donald O'Connor, Phyllis Diller, Chita Rivera, Joel Grey and Carol Channing, among others. WISEGUYS were special guests of Liza Minnelli in her sold-out Las Vegas, Atlantic City, United Nations and Central Park concerts.
After being spotted in an all-star Inaugural extravaganza, the trio was invited to sing at President Clinton's first State Dinner at the White House in an evening hosted by Lauren Bacall. Other New York appearances include such illustrious occasions as the Carnegie Hall Tribute to Bing Crosby with Rosemary Clooney, four sold-out concerts at the Russian Tea Room and their own concert at the Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall. They performed in runs at Michael's Pub, The Ballroom, and the Oak Room in Manhattan, the Cinegrill in Los Angeles, the Vic Theater in Chicago and the Connaught Room in London.
Their achievements did not go unnoticed. The Manhattan Association of Cabarets bestowed them with a 1992 MAC Award for musical-comedy excellence. BackStage Magazine honored them with a 1991 Bistro Award and the New York Native awarded them "Entertainers of the Year" in 1991.
Jim co-starred on the Nostalgia Network variety/sitcom Café DuArt for two seasons. He is also featured in ongoing concerts called "Lavin and Friends," starring Broadway and television actress, Linda Lavin. In addition, he has appeared at Caroline's Comedy Club four times, performed solo at The Triad Theater, Birdland, Odette's, and enjoyed a two-month SRO engagement at the downtown nightclub, "Eighty-Eight's."
Most recently, Jim hosted Broadway On Broadway 2000 in Times Square for 60,000 people! He was also the host of the 2000 MAC Awards at Town Hall in Manhattan. He was consulting editor and writer for the largest selling In Theater Magazine in history and contributes regularly to InStyle Magazine. Jim also writes a regular celebrity feature in theatermania.com called "Jim Caruso is...PRYING!" He produces celebrity interviews for E! Entertainment Television and was the Executive Associate to Liza Minnelli in the Broadway and National tour of "Minnelli on Minnelli."
