A graduate of Penn State University with degrees in journalism and history, Jim is also an alumnus of Northwestern's journalism and management program. He also is certified as a mediator in Los Angeles County. He has also competed in three Gay Games. His greatest sports accomplishment was quarterbacking his team to the gold medal in flag football at Gay Games IV in 1994.

Jim combines extensive experience in journalism and management with a proven track record. Jim's journalism background is varied and deep, with stints as a political reporter, city editor and sports editor. In 1987 he was named sports editor of the Long Beach Press-Telegram in California at 29, the youngest ever at the suburban Los Angeles daily.

In his time in Long Beach, Jim's section won numerous journalism awards for writing, editing and design. A board member of the Gay and Lesbian Sports Alliance of Greater Los Angeles since its inception in 1991, he was profiled in several publications for his trailblazing efforts as being the only openly gay male sports editor in the country. Jim managed a diverse department with a staff of 30. He was responsible for all aspects of the department, including hiring, equipment purchases and payroll. He left the paper in 1998.

Jim Buzinski and Cyd Zeigler, Jr., in November 2000 founded Outsports.com, a Web site for gay sports fans and athletes. They live in Los Angeles and met playing flag football. They've been shooting hoops, catching passes, cheering on the Chiefs, Pats, Nittany Lions, and Cardinal for years - before they knew they were gay, and ever since.

Outsports' mission is to build the broadest, deepest, most informative and most entertaining gay sports community. This encompasses sports fans, teams and leagues. A mixture of breaking news, commentary, features, member profiles, photo galleries, and discussion boards, Outsports is the place to go for sports fans.
