Real estate agent Joel Burns, councilman for Fort Worth, Texas, City Council District 9, became Tarrant County's first openly gay elected official in a runoff race on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007. He lives in the state of Texas, and has a partner that he live with, who is a partner of 15 years.
