Manfred Bruns, gay leader, civil-rights lawyer, retired Federal Court of Justice prosecutor, and member of the German parliament's AIDS panel.
His life is dedicated by fighting for equal rights - serving people, falling in love in same sex partners. Manfred Bruns, born 1934, married, three grown-up kids, was a federal attorney until 1994 based at German high court "bundesgerichtshof", in Karlsruhe/Germany.
He declared his preference as a homosexual human being openly in public and drawn good experiances on that. In the last years, Manfred Bruns engaged in words and writings for the rights of homosexual people and fights for mankind infected with AIDS. His coming-out in front of his chief, conservative Attorney General Mr Kurt Rebman, was defently not amused at all.
As a member of the enquete-commission "AIDS" of Geman Bundestag (the parliament) he engaged by human aids-policity - in sucess.
Therefore and for his "public and political engagment in equal rights, the honor of gay people and protector of the rights and honor of illness people, who are infected by HIV or presured under AIDS, his Exelancy The President of the Federal Republic of Germany assigned him as Owner of German highest medal - the Bundesverdienstkreuz first class (Medal of Federal Honor).
Actually he lives with his partner in Stuttgart. He is a speaker of German Lesbian and Gay-Society and works for the German Society of Gay Lawyers (BASJ) as well as for the Federal Community of Lesbian and Gay Couples (SLP). Furthermore he offers a help guideness in social and lawful affairs.
