Shane Bodie
(? - living) Canada
Singer, stylist
Born in Alberta. Throughout Bodie comes off like an arrival from some queer parallel universe where the gay teenage boys get the mainstream pinup idols instead of the straight girls. (Or at least the boys who favor the urban gay lifestyle of club hopping and drug experimentation.)
There are trade-offs: Bodie's voice is a bit thin and can't cover his lyrical stumbles ("My love becomes an army, and we're here to fight"). Shane, an English speaking Canadian, is pronouncing the word 'herbs' correctly (he sings the "h" in "herbs", but "nuclear" comes out as "nucular").
Then there's the fact that Bodie is rather phallocentric - several songs make painfully blunt reference to pants-diving - but in fairness, we've all been there, so that's at least as honest as it is shallow. In the end, Bodie himself says it best in "Green Leaves": "I'm taking Mary for a ride through my candy-coated, doped-up paradise."
