Thom was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB.

At the age of 17 he moved to Toronto and studied at Ryervan Theatre Conservatoryi n Toronto where, at 17, he was the youngest student ever to be admitted into the acting program.

He has appeared at the Stratford Festival in both "Romeo and Juliet" and "The Tempest".

His other roles on stage include "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat" "Cabaret" and "Miss Saigon".

Thom was nominated for a Dora Mavor Moore Award for his role as Robin in Brad Fraser's "Outrageous".

Television includes appearing in "Queer As Folk".
